13 May Design: Room & Board – Eat with Your Eyes Open
Modern Atlanta (MA!) Design is Human 10th annual event
My sister and I attended the Modern Dining: Eat with Your Eyes Open was an evening of storytelling and conversations. The topic was the psychology of design and how it influences the dining experience. And, of course, there was food lots of food to taste! The presentation was held at the Room & Board store located in Atlanta at Westside Provisions. Â We enjoyed a great night out sampling all the goodies and getting lots of new decorating ideas.
Chefs, interior designers and restaurateurs described how they create their award-winning dining experiences by working closely with architects and designers. They gave examples of how they combine colors, textures, lighting and art to provide mood-setting style and ambiance.
The presentations and tastings were presented by interior designer Vivian Bencich of Square Feet Studio, Chef Asha Gomez of Spice to Table, Chef Todd Richards of White Oak Kitchen and Richard’s Southern Fried, and Jen Hidinger of Staplehouse. The evening ended with a discussion and Q&A that was moderated by blogger Morgan Ashley of Eat Here ATL.
This evening was a great example of how design, food and storytelling all combine to set a mood and create memorable experiences. It’s not just about planning a menu and setting the table anymore.
