Failure is a Bruise, Not a Tattoo

Failure is not a tattoo so stop wearing failure like it’s permanent! Failures are teachable lessons that help you (and others) to avoid making the same mistakes. You have to give yourself permission to fail and know that it does not signify that it is time to quit.

FailCon was a one-day conference for entrepreneurs that taught how to “learn from and prepare for failure” for faster growth. It encouraged startup founders to “embrace (their) mistakes” and “build (their) success(es).” In began in San Francisco in 2009 to let people know failure is okay and was held in cities all over the world.

In this video Mike McDerment shares how his accounting software company, Freshbooks, made several mistakes when developing its brand. He gave a key point about being “forthright” when finding mentors and to tell the truth about what is going on.

As long as you don’t quit and keep working to improve, failure can be a forward motion—in spite of taking some bruises and backward steps along the way.

Have any of your failures become valuable lessons that actually helped you to improve in different areas of your life?
